City Lit Books
2523 N. Kedzie

On Thursday, March 30, City Lit Books launched a one-month “Book Apothecary” pop up. Inspired by the bibliotherapy program offered at The School of Life in London through which customers are recommended literature to help cure their existential ailments, City Lit Books is featuring curative books recommended by over 50 writers and book lovers in Chicago and beyond.

We have a physical installation featuring recommended books and related "prescriptions" written by contributing authors. The Book Apothecary will be divided into categories such as 'absurdity', 'alienation', 'politics', and 'self', among others, with several books in every category.
Join us as we welcome acclaimed local authors reading selections from the works they chose.

Authors reading on Saturday include: Christine Sneed (author of Paris He Said), Kathleen Rooney (author of Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk), Martin Seay (author of The Mirror Thief), Kyle Beachy (author of Slide), and Rebecca Makkai (author of Wartime Music).
