If you've tried navigating the intersection of Elston, Fullerton and Damen lately, you've seen the results of the long-planned City efforts to remove that traffic bottleneck, and likely you've noticed the mysterious multi-story development growing up around what was the Midtown Tennis Club. It's now the Midtown Athletic Club, and wow, has it changed! Still tennis, but nearly four times the size, with swimming pools, ice rinks, a six story hotel, and more. The General Manager will be joining us for lunch, and filling us in on the details. We'll also be hearing about the project's potential impact on Chicago tourism from Choose Chicago execs. It's a meeting you really shouldn't miss!

We're holding the Lunch at a neighborhood venue we'll bet you've never been to: the Joinery, just opened and highlighted by Crain's Chicago Business as one of the best new event spaces in the City, the "Logan Square Hideaway With a Past". And of course we'll have food--a buffet of traditional and contemporary takes on European cuisine from Logan Square's premier Polish restaurant, the Red Apple.

Join us for all of that, plus our annual "Best Company" awards, and elections for the Chamber Board of Directors.

“Its all about who you know.”

We’ve all heard this phrase, and although its tacky, the underlying premise is true. Having professional relationships can provide you with opportunities that you may not be able to get without insider insight or a favorable connection. But how do we build these kinds of professional relationships?

We constantly hear about the "power of networking," and yet when we think of networking, we get that uneasy feeling in the pit of our stomach because we've all met a cheesy self-promoting salesperson that made us swear we'd never attend another networking event again!

1- Session 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Workshop Becoming Your Own Banker

The average business owner spends 34.5% of their gross revenues on financing. That represents a HUGE cut into profits, and leaving businesses vulnerable to all sorts of risk. But what if your business could be the bank, and collect that 34.5% as revenue instead? Would that make your business more profitable? More competitive? At this workshop, we’ll unpack the financial vehicles corporations such as Apple, Disney, Foster Farms, and McDonalds are using to self-finance their business needs. Why use a banker to fund payroll, operations, equipment purchasing, and fund future business growth? Fire your banker, and become your own source of financing!

Lunch will be provided

2- Session 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM

Workshop The future is Now

You work hard at your business, but someday you’ll retire. This workshop shows you how to make the most of your retirement by selling your business at its highest value. Even if you don’t plan to sell for another twenty years, you’ll get more for your business when you start planning today. Learn how to use your business as an effective retirement savings plan so that you can retire in the style you deserve.
