New York based Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra (SYSO) will perform at Symphony Center in Chicago after they take center stage at revered venues such as New York's Carnegie Hall and Washington's Kennedy Center, etc. SYSO will perform highlights from its vast repertoire of original works and also features classics from Wagner, Sarasate, Tchaikovsky and more, as well as several of the world's top Chinese vocalists. Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra blends the spirit of Chinese music with the power of a Western orchestra. Ancient instruments like the erhu, pipa, and a range of Chinese percussion instruments lead the melody on top of full strings, woodwinds, and brass.

Roscoe Village Neighbors is hosting the 1st annual Roscoe Village 5K race and Fun Run the morning of this annual event, now in its 18th year.
This will be an all-day celebration of Halloween and the Roscoe Village community.

The race, featuring the streets of Roscoe Village, is geared toward all ages and competition levels! All proceeds will go back to directly benefiting the community and its neighborhood programs.

Costumes are encouraged for all in attendance. There will also be food, music, and beer booths. Whether you are a serious runner, or just love to celebrate Halloween, the event will bring together running enthusiasts, school supporters, neighbors and party-goers of all ages.

This year’s post-race activities (located between Hoyne and Hamilton on Roscoe) promise to be the biggest ever. We’ve increased the number of craft and activity tables, commissioned a photo booth and arranged for food trucks to be in place.

The 14th District Court Advocacy Subcommittee consists of district residents, community groups, members of the business community and Chicago Police Officers. Through the court advocacy program we are able to identify court cases that negatively affect the community. We attend court as a team to let crime victims know that the are not alone.

All members must undergo a name check and background clearance.

The Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) is partnering with the Department of Procurement Services (DPS), the Chicago Police Department (CPD), and the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) to host a networking event for potential vendors.

Over 5,000 invitations are being sent to different firms certified in various industries related to technology, computer hardware/software, and public safety. The purpose of this outreach is to educate vendors not only about the services that OEMC, CPD, and CFD offer, but also about the potential contracting opportunities available. As a result, vendors will be better informed about what goods and services they may be qualified to provide and pursue contract opportunities as either a direct or indirect contractor or subcontractor.
