Logan Square rings in the season with “Holidays on the Square”

Join Logan Square for Holidays on the Square! Participating businesses will be celebrating the season with sweets, treats, tastings, delicious pop up shops, trunk shows and Santa and more!

Holidays on the Square (HOTS) has been an annual multi-location kick-off to the winter holidays, featuring special events, promotions and activities offered by Logan Square small businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Holidays on the Square was created to give small businesses and not-for-profits of Logan Square the opportunity to showcase their wares and services. And the event is organized by local business owners and volunteers to encourage residents to shop locally and strengthen community ties.

Each year 40 to 50 thousand motorcycle riders come to Chicago to ride together and donate toys for needy children.

The Chicagoland Toys for Tots parade is now the largest motorcycle parade in the world, providing tens of thousands of children with brand-new presents for Christmas. New Toys Only (no stuffed animals please)

The 14th District Court Advocacy Subcommittee consists of district residents, community groups, members of the business community and Chicago Police Officers. Through the court advocacy program we are able to identify court cases that negatively affect the community. We attend court as a team to let crime victims know that the are not alone.

All members must undergo a name check and background clearance.

Meet Matt Bergstrom, community resident, artist and the creator of "Lost Houses of Lyndale Street". The two blocks of Lyndale between California and Kedzie have lost many older buildings to redevelopment in the past few years. Matt makes drawings and models of the houses that once stood there using materials salvaged during their tear-down. Rediscover the story of these humble homes and hear tales of the long-gone neighbors who once lived there.

This exhibit will be on display in the Logan Square Library's lobby during November and December.

It is the time of year that Alderman Proco Joe Moreno begins to collect unwrapped toys to distribute to the children in the 1st Ward. This year we have community organzations that are stepping up in our efforts. Thanks to West Buck Town Neighborhood Association, The Joinery, La Casa Norte, Chicago police Department, CLEOS and The Logan Square Chamber of Commerce and other Community leaders in the 1st Ward. We hope to collect toys to give to the children in the 1st Ward who are less fortunate. 1st Ward communities include West Town, Ukranian Village, Wicker Park, West Buck Town, Logan Square and Humboldt Park.
