One year is over, and a new year has begun – so let’s open a bottle of wine and share lots of fun!

LoganSquarist is kicking off the first Neighbor Meetup of 2019. Merchant is Logan Square’s gathering parlor featuring a fully scratch kitchen and freshly curated cocktails all within a comfortable, affordable, and approachable dining destination.

The City-owned land at 1807-1815 N Kimball next to the Bloomingdale Trail has long been envisioned as a Trail access park. The City is proposing to apply for a $500,000 United States Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Cleanup Grant to help achieve this vision. The Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail and City of Chicago, in partnership with Operamatic, are hosting a public meeting so the community can learn more about the grant proposal and provide feedback. Please note this is not a design meeting.

There will be a public lottery for participation in the 606 Bloomingdale Trail Neighborhood Improvement Program,. Due to an overwhelming response of applications received, a lottery drawing is required. The drawing will choose applicants to be processed for home improvement grants. Applicants not selected in the lottery will be placed on a waiting list for available funds if selected applicants are deemed ineligible.

Attendance at the lottery is not required. Selected applicants will be contacted by Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago (NHS).

In solidarity with National Human Trafficking Awareness month, Monarch Thrift Shop partnered with STOP-IT, Hope Is and Resurrection Coffee Company to help raise awareness and spread Hope.

On Friday, January 11, they will be offering 50% off blue tags storewide and giving away Hope bracelets provided by the Hope Is Foundation to help raise awareness. Why blue? Because blue is the internationally recognized color of human trafficking awareness.

On Saturday, January 26, join them for a Human Trafficking 101 conversation with STOP IT sharing information on what human trafficking really is, how to recognize it and what you can do. Coffee provided by Resurrection Coffee Co.

The Small Business Advocacy Council along with a robust coalition of Chambers of Commerce and business associations are hosting the Chicago Small Business Mayoral Candidate Forum to hear from the candidates for Mayor on how they intend to empower small businesses across the city of Chicago. The forum will be an exclusive opportunity for business owners to hear from the candidates on issues that impact their businesses on a daily basis. The forum will begin promptly at 8:00 AM and candidates will be given a few minutes for introductions follow by questions asked by the moderator. This is a forum and not a debate, where candidates will be asked to refrain from engaging with one another on stage. Following the event, we will have a candidate meet and greet located in the Carbon Arc Bar located in the theater. Attendees are invite to stay around to talk to the candidates and campaigns during that time.
